NAMI MN Walk '08

We had the honor and privilege to cover the '08 NAMI Walks event this weekend! It is always nice to see people getting out for a truly good cause even when the weather isn't picture perfect. Our studio of course stays out of politics and any other hot button issues but regardless of your views on any given issue we love your passion and belief in the cause! If anyone wants to know more about NAMI here is the link:

Beth and Jack

I always have fun with these two!! We did Beth and Jacks engagement session, their wedding, another of Beth's families wedding and now Beth is officially on the nest! Only three weeks to go and she looks absolutely amazing. We did serious stuff, silly stuff, artistic stuff and some fun casual stuff as well. I found out that these two are "crafty" as well- Beth made the stuffed duck and Jack handled the paint job on the train- excellent work you two and hopefully we will see you in a couple of weeks with a new baby! Here is the sneak peak~

Equipment and stuff

This has come up a couple of times today so I thought it would put it on the blog- I got an email earlier from another photographer that her main camera died in the middle of a session (she of course had a backup) and I had a client ask about it- Equipment backups!

This is such an important item especially when looking for a wedding photographer- does he/she have backups for everything and is it professional grade equipment? As you can probably guess we do! Extra camera bodies, extra lens's, extra pocket wizards, extra batteries, extra, extra, extra! We currently have 5 digital camera bodies, 1 pro 35mm film camera, and our complete medium format system if we ever had to go "old skool" on it!

Another thing we have heard people being concerned about- what would happen if something were to happen to you? The MPPA would happen (Minnesota Professional Photographers Association)- I currently have a phone list of people that is not small that would 100% cover me if I something terrible happened. I of course am on their list's as well which is a beautiful thing.

Long story longer- we have backups and people that have our back!

Ohh- I also hadn't done any of this for my insurance company lately so I thought two birds with one stone!

Duluth

I took a full 26 hours off!!!! For those who know me that is absolutely huge! I am normally a 7 days a week pedal to the metal at the studio guy (except this summer when me and Klara would go to the pool everyday at 2:00pm). We had an absolute blast and I even picked up the camera- I am totally in love with the "epic" image of Klara conquering the ladder at the slide as she ponders her next conquest. I even took a couple of pictures of non humans- look at me go I am Ansel Adams- finally I took a picture for my dad- his favorite bird of all the seagull (or as he affectionately calls them- Flying Rats!). Thanks Greta and Klara for making me take a bring and enjoy the finer things in life-them!

Hayden is 3 years old!

News flash for everyone- we are all getting older!! I swear that feeling intensifies when you have kids (and when you photograph a lot of them too!). I can easily remember when Walt and Beth (Hayden's parents) were just dating and kids seemed like a nevercertainty (my new word!). Now Beth is on the nest again and Hayden is 3- at least I still don't have bi focal's!

Enough of the ranting! We had a delightful time with Hayden- we played in the studio, he attacked me with "Bagel" his stuffed dog, we went to the park and even went to see trains! I am sure Beth can't believe it but we got plenty of smiles out of Hayden and my personal favorite- Hayden as an old man surveying his domain (bottom picture).

Kirsten and Chris

Kirsten and Chris did it, they're married and not even a little rain could stop them! It's true we didn't have the best weather but we did have a good time! The Gibbs Muesum was a photographic playground!! And these two were game for anything!! Not only did I get to have tons of fun with these two, they also gave me an education! So CONGRATS you two and thank you for such a wonderful day and experience!!!

Katy and Brent

We may not have had the best weather in the world but it is official- Katy and Brent are married! I was so glad that we were at Plymouth Congregational since we couldn't get outside- there are a million different places to create cool images. These two were game for just about anything so we had a great time exploring the church. I had to put up the last image- Only guy on the dance floor- the floor cleared but he couldn't tear himself away and eventually helped to re populate it! Congrats Katy and Brent and enjoy your honeymoon!

Alena and Ben

I had so much fun with these two in the studio! We played around for an hour or so before heading of to Centenial Lakes and the courthouse. I got to see the "crew" from Beth and Jacks wedding last year (Beth you are glowing by the way!) and just in general enjoyed being a part of Alena and Ben's day.

Samantha and Jason's bundle of joy

Samantha waited to the last second to dot her "i's" and cross her "t's" on the babies first year program- she called on Thursday to sign up- delivered Saturday and we were off to the hospital Sunday morning to make this precious gift's first images! There is nothing more precious in this world than a brand new baby- she was absolutely fabulous and I could definitely tell she knew mom and dads voice because whenever she started to cry all that it took was a few words from Samantha and Jason and she would quiet right down. Here is your peak at the hospital session!
