Some fun in the neighborhood. It is always nice to live next to a photographer (especially when it is me!)- Paige wants to give modeling a try so I brought over a few lights, a reflector and a background and 30 minutes later we had enough images for comp cards and a little start to her portfolio. We even had some time to get in her brother and sister as well- all the images were made in a 5' x 5' section of their yard- I should totally do this for a living...........

It's Senior Portfolio time! Here is a brief peek into Jessica's session we pan handled, saw dirty needles, almost got hit by cars and of course the session ended up with a torrential rain pour that had us soaked to the bone-AWESOME! Here is Lisa and her crew! This is Collin's 1 year session and fortunately (because a babysitter called with too good of weather.....) we got the whole family to come along too. So much fun- like herding cats with the energy of 3 kids under the age of 5- We captured some amazing images and had a blast doing it.

It is not everyday that I get to go to Austin Minnesota to visit the home of the Packers but it is always worth it when I do! One of my favorite parts about what I do is getting to know and sharing some of the best experiences with people that life has to offer- I have been fortunate enough to photograph Cori when she was "crowned" in the pageant scene, her engagement, her wedding and now her maternity session!

Audrey's 6 month session

Being on location rocks! Smiles, fun, lots of wardrobe available and cool things like a pool table to play with (never thought it was a good idea to have a pool table at the studio!). We just picked up some new tools to make it even easier to make great portraits wherever we need to and are loving the freedom it allows us. Do you and your family have a favorite place to go? Why not create family keepsakes there! Lots of locations have no problem letting you bring along a photographer- some require permits, some require begging but in the end with a little research you can find a favorite place on your list that we allow you to create keepsakes! Another bonus- you aren't trying to create the images- you can relax and enjoy the whole experience and interact instead of interrupt!

Here is Ella, she is turning 2, just like most two year olds she has the energy that if harnassed could power an entire city! We had a great time and I have a feeling she went to bed early that night after all of the fun we had! Enjoy the preview~

Maternity Sessions

Maternity time!!! I have a fun session coming up this weekend and a wife on the nest so it got me thinking.........Does everyone know that I do maternity sessions? Well hopefully after reading that you are aware of it and if you are expecting we would love to photograph this amazing time in your life. I will post all the fun we with Sundays session next week but here is a sneak of some other sessions. Notice the last image- that is what happens in the last 20 weeks of your pregnancy- we had a mom come in every week for 24 weeks so we could capture it- the finished product is style "under construction" but I hope you enjoy how far we got with it.

Baby Grady

Welcome to the world baby Grady! He is less than a week old in these images and has it all in front of him (his 3 month session, his 6 month session, 9 month and year that is!)...... We were fortunate enough to photograph Grady's parents wedding a few years ago- Can't argue with the results!!!!

So who wouldn't want images like this of their new born child (pretty sure only communists)? It is actually affordable ($99.00 for all of the sessions) and realistically you will never get a second chance to make these images!

A homecoming

I have said it before and I am sure that I will say it again- I have one of the best jobs in the world!!! Weddings, Births, homecomings and watching families grow over the years- I get to be a part of all of it and for that I am sincerely thankful. Speaking of thankful- My thanks goes out to Rob for the sacrifices he and his family made for the greater good through his service. I can't imagine the joy, relief and unbelievable happiness these guys/gals felt to be reunited after a long separation- Enjoy the sneak peak and thank you to Rob, Lisa and the family for letting me be a part of such a special homecoming.

For years we have gone to weddings, to hospitals for births, class reunions, day cares, dance studios and every place else- except we didn't make many home visits for some reason......Guess what we are totally willing to come to you. Zoey and Family

We had some firsts in this session! First photo shoot for Zoey, first snow angel (Zoey was not a fan!) and we of course got mom and dad on camera which is not their favorite thing to do! In the end I do believe that a good time was had by all and I even have the images to prove it. I love this time of year!! Not only is the holiday magic in the air but I always get the little ones in as well! Meet Ellie- she may or may not have been a little suspicious at first but after hanging out, playing with blocks and getting to know her new surroundings the smiles cam out like the sun from behind the clouds. I have been so busy with families/babies this holiday season I forgot to give my wedding couples some love! Believe it or not these images were created just weeks ago when we were having our very warm late November- wouldn't want to be outside today! This is Erin and Chris and they are one of the nicest couples that you will ever meet- their day was fabulous and I even got to run into some friends that I photographed their wedding a couple of years ago. I know it is engagement season as well- CALL THE STUDIO SOON- we are past the half way to our magic number! Hope everyone is having an awesome holiday season that is low stress~

Tis the season

We laughed, we cried but most importantly we created beautiful images of these two (Oh and mom and dad too) boys that can be treasured for a lifetime! It is so amazing how fast time goes by- It seems like I was just doing Ryan's 1 year portrait - now there are two of them and look how big they are! Giving back!

The holidays are upon us so what better way to get into the spirit than giving back! I got a call from a fellow photographer asking me if I would help her with a project to photograph kids/families that otherwise couldn't afford it. I of course said yes- so we packed up the studio and did some really nice portraits on location. The families will get a copy of the portrait and also received presents, got to play games, meet an inspired elf (www.inspiredelf.com) the whole thing was really cool and I was glad that I could be a part of it- Thanks for thinking of me Amy! There is still time to get your family in I promise! This coming weekend is going to be crazy but it's the holidays- I think it is supposed to be that way..........

Here is Katie, Griz and their crew- rumour has it that Griz had had too much fun the night before and was feeling a little pekid....... I am totally not buying it he looks FABULOUS.......I spent most of the session laughing and trying to answer all of the questions from a 2.5 year old and a 3.5 year old. These guys have there hands full! Success and wonderful images were created- I love my job!

I unfortunately haven't been photographing the pageant that long (or not!) but this is our fifth year with the organization so we must be doing something right. An album

How sweet is this album! Mike and Jenny had an incredible wedding day and we have some many great images that a flush mount design was definitely the way to go. All of our flush mount designs are handcrafted- no drop and drag templates for this studio- The advantage being that we can incorporate whatever you would like in the album- it will be your album that you will cherish and show your children, and their children so why not make it just the way you want!

For those of you who are just too busy to get your butts to the studio this is the kind of work you can expect from us (it totally doesn't suck!).

Holiday Cards

It's that time of year again already- Holiday cards and holiday card designs! I know that everyone is super excited for it so without any more fan fare here are a few of this years designs.

As always we have every variety known to man- single sided 5x7's, double sided 5x7's, Trifold 5x's, 4x8's single and double sided and anything else that you can think of. How can you not like a photo shoot with dogs involved. Despite their labeling they were both pretty nice and we even have a shot with them and the whole family with everyone looking and smiling! Before the blog, before our renovation and before Lindsey's graduation- there was the wedding of Jenny and Ryan that we were lucky enough to be able to capture- Lots has happened since them but they are still one of the nicest families around! We were so happy to get outside on one of the nicest (and windiest!) days of fall to make these images. I actually found out that making sure that the engagement session was part of the "deal" was Jeff's idea- Careful what you wish for. Meet Nick and see how much he rules!!!! He actually survived his entire session and gave me the great compliment that it was better than church! We ran the gamut from in studio silliness to the great outdoors- even getting his sister in on the act. The "Spooky" Halloween Event

I can't believe how much fun and noise we generated with our 1st annual Halloween Spectacular! We had witches, cheerleaders, birdman and a host of other scary folks. Bobbing for apples had to be my favorite activity to watch and I wonder if a certain young lady is dry yet (her technique was to pin the apples to the bottom of the tub!). I put young mister Lucas on the blog first- he had just come to watch because he doesn't allow anyone to photograph him- I talked him into helping me with my new great idea and this is what we got!

Look who is back at work and better than ever! I can officially shoot/edit images again- I am still not back to my body builder strength (I can currently lift almost 4 pounds with the bad arm!) but slowly but surely! Wow- where do I start with this post! Lindsey and Luke what a day and what a great lesson. As many of you know I am actively involved in the Minnesota Professional Photographers Association (www.mnppa.com) and one of the things we always talk about is lending a hand when someone is in need- well it was my turn and I was definitely in need! One bad move on an 8 foot ladder and down I went- It was broke and there was no way I was going to be able to lift a camera. Two emails and a call later and I had more offers for help than I knew what to do with! Lindsey and Luke got the dream team (me of course)- David Grupa, David Jones and Amy Zelmer- some of the finest photographers in the state of Minnesota. Here is a little sample of the incredible images they created and even one that I did (the ceremony shot!) via a remote trigger.
